第4回目の東京-ロンドンプロジェクトの研究会を開催します。東京-ロンドンプロジェクトは、東京都とロンドンという二つのオリンピック都市に焦点をあて、アートや文化と都市がどのように関わっているのかを批判的に検証しようというものです。第4回目の今回は、ロンドン大学ゴールドミスカレッジ社会学部教授、キャロライン・ノウルズ氏をゲストに迎え、都市とアートの関係についてお話をしていただきます。
ノウルズ氏は、都市とアート、文化、そして人やモノの移動に関心があり、これまでロンドンをはじめ香港や北京、福州、アディス・アベバ、クェートなど多くの都市で調査をしてきました。特にさまざまなアーティストや写真家たちと一緒に共同作業を行い、さまざまな視覚的方法論を使っていることにその特徴があります。これまでに、Flip-Flop: A Journey Through Globalisation’s Backroads. 2014, London: PlutoやHarper, Douglasとの共著 Hong Kong: Migrant Lives, Landscapes and Journeys. Chicago, 2010 : Chicago University Pressをはじめ数多くの著作があります。
今回はこれまでのノウルズ氏の研究をもとにロンドンと東京との共同研究の可能性ついて議論します。興味のある方はどなたでもご参加いただけます。

Tokyo-London Project Workshop
Art in the City: Art, Olympic and City Events
We are happy to announce that we hold the 4th Tokyo-London Project workshop: it critically examines the relationships between art, culture and the city, by focusing on two Olympic cities, Tokyo and London
We invite Professor Caroline Knowles, to give a talk as a guest speaker as well as Professor Mike Featherstone and Dr. Tomoko Tamari as discussants from Goldsmith College, University of London.
Professor Knowles is concerned with migration and circulations of material objects – some of the social forces constituting globalization. She is particularly interested in cities, having done research in London, Hong Kong, Beijing, Fuzhou, Addis Ababa, Kuwait City and Seoul. She specializes in visual, spatial and biographical methods, often working with photographers and artists. Her publications include Flip-Flop: A Journey Through Globalisation’s Backroads in 2014, Pluto Press and Hong Kong: Migrant Lives, Landscapes and Journeys, (co-written with Douglas Harper) in 2009, University of Chicago Press.
We will discuss the possibility of collaborative research between Tokyo and London, based on her research experience, too.
